Ok, so my moms turtle has some kind of growth or infection maybe? Does anyone know what is wrong with him? He's at least 10 years old.

I'll PM you my email, i need to see better pics to tell what species it is, from what i can tell it is possible that it is a box turtle of some sort

Ok so I've been doing some research and I believe he is a Actinemys marmorata pallida, otherwise known as a Southwestern Pond Turtle. Or a Actinemys marmorata, also known as a Western Pond Turtle. Everything matches up because my grandma said she got him from a pond in her home down in Northern California, about 10 years ago. Hopefully that helps with the eye thing...

no problem, here are a couple links to websites that seem like they will be able to help: http://zipcodezoo.co...morata_pallida/

sounds like a classic case of a respitory infection. she needs to see a vet for antibiotics other wise it will not go away on its own, and she will die. also if your stating that is a pacific pond turtle. collected from a pond in N. Cal. then i wouldnt go talking about it as it is a crime, their populations are severly limited and are crictically at risk, they are very rare even within their range... although i would suggest posting in the general forum and not these blog things youll get more information to help, but you need to have your mother get to a vet ASAP in the mena time up the temp and feed high vitamin a foods...
