Outside enclosures with ponds

Outside enclosures with ponds

These 2 outside year round pond enclosures are 8X10 and the new harem addition is 4X7. They have 8ft and 6ft ceilings. screened all side top and bottom 2 ft under ground. The turtles are pretty safe in there. They have locks and and outside feed pipe so they can be fed when I go on vacation with out entering the cage. The larger one has a 350 gallon pond. and the smaller one has a pond filled with sand to max 6"water depth as it is for female spotted's. Each one has a switched basking light, and switched spotlights for night viewing. They are auto flushed each day 2 times for 12 minutes each time from a well and pump. Each nite before dark I turn on the basking lamps and after dark the turtles are very active. I feed them after dark as they are the most enjoyable then.
I just finished the harem addition yesterday as my adult female is new. It became quickly apparent she need her own apartment as the male was relentless and they had to be separated until a safe spot for them to be together was available.

I am contemplating doing a pond as well. I have not seen any one else do a screen like that and it is something like what I want to do. Could you pm me with details on how you did it and how it is holding up?
