We are Ontario's Largest Turtle Rescue & possibly the largest in Canada now that Turtle Homes has closed down.
We have had over 400 turtles surrendered to us since 2008, and a hand full of Lizards, Frogs, & Snakes. We attend the Mississauga Reptile Expos, & the Mississauga Reptile Breeders Expo to help educate the masses about the Turtle problem here in Ontario (unwanted pets, & the ecosystem), & to adopt some out.

The Little RES Q is dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and relocation of pet turtles and other small reptiles across Ontario in an attempt to keep them from being released into the wild. We provide a better option for those who, for one reason or another, cannot take care of their reptiles anymore. Many small reptiles, especially turtles, get purchased as a pet for a young family member without fully understanding the costs in both material and time needed for proper care of the animal. And sadly all too often these poor creatures suffer from neglect even with the owner's best intentions.

We are a limited admittance, no kill shelter that limits intake in order to uphold a standard in quality of life for the surrenders in our care. We implement a waiting list when necessary, use a foster care network to help, and emphasize adoption and responsible pet ownership for all types of reptiles.

It is IMPOSSIBLE for me to list all our turtles individually on here, as we have about 80 & so many come & go daily. In the warmer months these numbers can change by 40 in a single day, as we have a new Private Pond Program to help home large amounts to a single owner. Don't worry, we have strict rules & we are good friends with the MNR, OSPCA, and the Toronto Zoo (Adopt a pond). That being said our MAIN location is in Scarborough, Ontario. We also have 3 other locations; Trenton, London, and Thorold. So we are able to cover most of Southern Ontario. As more small Rescue Groups join our team, we will continue to grow, and hopefully reach Ottawa in the very near future. We do plan to expand to other provinces, but for now we are solely concentrating on Ontario.

We are working hard to get our Non-For-Profit license, however that is about $850.00 and we are functioning almost solely out of the Owners pocket (Marc O). At this past Breeders Expo(2010) we were able to raise some funds to go towards the License and medical bills. So hopefully next year we will be able to get that License!

Please note that we are a rescue located in Canada and we can not ship to the US or accept turtles from the US.

Our most common species are:

Red Eared Slider (vast majority of our surrenders)
Maps (different subs)
Yellow Bellies
Florida Red Belly

We have gotten a couple of Chinese Softshells in the past, however we have not gotten any Tortoises in.

The Little RES Q website is being upgraded to a much better site. It is unknown when the launch will be but it will be soon (within the next few days), so I wanted to post this before it happened. So if you try to go to the URL I posted above to see our available turtles and it is no longer functioning... this is the new URL to that page
http://www.littleresq.net/1.html

DO NOT go to that URL before the original URL I posted is no longer functioning, as the new one will not work properly, & it will be a terrible looking mess.

ship to KY???

KY is in the USA, so no as it's illegal to ship a turtle across the American border.
