Ever had to break open a turtle egg? I'm thinking I need to since my eggs have gone past their due date. any advice?

Yes I've done it in the past and found that either the embryo died early on and development stopped or it was infertile. Don't give up on any egg until it is obviously bad. Some eggs just take way longer than normal depending on temps, humidity, etc. You can try candling the egg or seeing if there is any movement before you break it open. If you feel the turtle is in there but can't get out and others in its group have hatched or are hatching if there were other nest mates, then in that event I would open the egg.
