Hi Everyone,

The first round of voting is over, and the finalists have been chosen. We had to reduced the finalists from the over 100+ photos in the first round down to around 40 for the final round.

Take a moment to vote for the 12 you like best. This coming Sunday I will tally the votes, check the pictures (proper size, in focus, and variety) and announce the winners late Monday evening...

We have some GREAT photos in the mix, and there were plenty of good pictures that were left behind, so make sure you vote to get your favorites in the contest!

Sadly this evening was tied up as well, sorry to disappoint anyone.

I _will_ have the calendar posted by 5pm MST on Wednesday.

It was so hard to pick, there were so many good pictures. That wild Diamondback in South Florida was awesome!

That was my top pick too! Your Amazon Sideneck was my second choice!

It was hard to pick there were so many good photos...if I had to choose one it was a tie between the photo of "Kentucky," who was the male Eastern Box turtle with the bright yellow head (head shot from the top) and the Wood Turtle. Of course I am partial to my photo of "Sheila," the common snapper, which was taken on the morning of her release this past June 16th. She was found three summers ago as a half dead hatchling on the road almost totally dried up from dehydration. When she was released in the pond she swam out a bit, looked up out of the water, turned around, swam back a little, put her head up as if to say "thank you," then spun around and off she went.

These calendars make marvelous Christmas presents and I have given them out as presents for the past several years to friends and family and everyone looks forward to them. I also have one in my office at work which my co-workers love and they are looking forward to the new one!

The stories behind the photos are interesting. Chicken turtle (another finalist) was also looking for a home. I was taking photos of the adoptions for the Seattle Turtle and Tortoise Club newsletter and "chicken" kept watching, like she wanted her picture taken. If I had space for an aquatic, I would have adopted her right away. It seems like they know when we are helping them.

Sorry to keep cliff hanging, but I had some technical issues with my computer, and it refocused my evening. Anyway it is too late tonight to get some help, so I will have to address that and then address the last of the calendar. Very Sorry, especially for those who might be checking and checking again.

If you want PM me and I'll PM you back when the calendar is ready. Save you some headaches :) I also plan on sending an e-mail out to everyone who voted, or submitted a picture when the contest is announced (assuming the e-mails are still valid).

I can't even make up the excuses now! Got off early at lunch time, and the winds knocked the power out to my house.

Anyway the calendar is posted on CafePress.com http://www.cafepress.com/turtletimes

I know I said I was going to send out emails, to those who submitted pictures or voted, but given the time I am really tired. My electric wasn't restored until after 11pm, and of course earlier in the day when the power went out I was working on the finishing the calendar and lost a bunch of work...

I hope you can forgive me on the emails. I will be out of town tomorrow, so Saturday is the earliest I can send them if I were to do them.

Off to bed, thanks again everyone for the fun of having the calendar... When I get a moment to relax I am sure I will enjoy it as much as I always do!
