Its either a Fla box turtle or an Ornate box turtle. Where do you live? I could tell if you posted a pic of him/her wet and also a pic of his/her bottom (plastron)

Ditto - where do you live? That is a big factor in what may be in your area! This is definitely a box turtle, but cold be Eastern, Ornate or Desert, depending on where you live.
The way the shell appears to be kind of "scooped" out at the ends seems to me to indicate that this turtle has been in someone's care before (though not proper nutrition). Otherwise, it's an adult boxie. More pics as well as your location would greatly help.

Why can't it be a florida box? Its definitely not an ornate, the only options are desert and florida. The shape is all wrong for desert, as is the color of the head. Looks like a female florida boxie to me

it cant be a florida because it doesnt have a yellow stripe going threw his eye and on his chin thing. if it is not a ornate it must be a female desert box turt.

It does have a yellow post orbital stripe, enlarge the pic..the turtle was just in some dirty water prior to the pic being taken, you can see the clean spot on top of the carapace, the rest is just dirty. Including her head.
