Yeah so the sex isn't as important as the species as I want to know whether they are socialable and should be kept together, thanks!

Turtles are not social animals, so whenever you place 2 together, there is always a chance there could be aggression. Just keep an eye out. The one on the left is a yellow belly, the one on the right looks like a cumberland slider. Clearer pics of the head could guarantee that. There's no way to tell the sex yet.

So which forums should I be using on this site? Will the RES forum tell me everything I need to know?

Great, I was hoping that was the case because I've been using the RES forum for the last couple of weeks, thanks again!

both of these turtles are actually subspecies of Trachemys scripta of which RES belong. Yellow belly is Trachemys scripta scripta ,RES is trachemys scripta elegans, cumberland is trachemys scripta trootsi so care is the same for all of them.
