Hey guys, I have been searching for a couple weeks now and I still can't figure out what my new baby is! I'm hoping someone will know. I got home from work and Sheldon was a surprise b-day present, my boyfriend said he bought him from a small pet store and that he was in a tank with a few fish. The owner of the shop said that if we want to have Sheldon in a tank with fish that we need to wait till he's a little older, huh? So why was he in a tank with fish then? Weird, well that doesn't make sense and doesn't matter anyway I want sheldon to be in a tank by himself/herself I don't want to run the risk of him/her catching a disease from fish anyway. Well here is a picture of Sheldon. Thanks for any help! He is tiny right now by the way.

Also am I feeding him too much?? I give him like 4 or 5 pellets a day he just seems like he's starving and he eats so fast. [oops]

It looks like a Cooter to me maybe a Penninsula Cooter?

It looks like a peninsula cooter to me, too. I have one just about the same size. :)

Four or five pellets is perfect. Stick with the "however many could fit in its head" rule. It seems like he's super hungry, but really he's just a piggy. It's probably instinctual for your turtle to attempt to eat as much food as it can as often as it can. For such a small turtle - a big appetite is a good sign of good health!
